Though I'm not fond of the photos I took last week I edited them to see what I could do to try and improve the visual aesthetic of them.

First Shoot

Wednesday was my first shoot for the project. It wasn't quite what I wanted as my original light set up and box order got changed, the images look good still just it wasnt quite what I had in mind.
This shoot took place in the studio. I liked my original set up more than the one I used in the images. I felt that the set up which I used didn't create the right feel or grungey atmosphere I wanted. The lights were to harsh and white which meant everything was lit up to well and didn't create enough shadows.

Working with a model I felt improved my work a lot as the outcome looked more professional. Also she knew different types of poses and wasn't awkward in front of the camera.

I realised that this shoot didn't reflect my idea well enough and knew that I had to reshoot; preferably on location.

Vogue Italia - Steven Meisel - Performance

I found it finally! The editorial to acompany the cover shot of the Vogue featured previously.

I really love this shoot as it is so different to the typical Vogue shoots. This shoot is a lot more playful and adventurous than usual. The clothing used in this shoot doesn't look like the high end expensive stuff normally featured. The shots are a mix of close ups, full lengths and use numerous models in the majority of the images.
Its nice to see models enjoying them selves and having fun instead of the plain face of the traditional model.
Meisel does all the main feature shoots for Italian Vogue. His shoots are usually ellaborate and based around a clear theme. often they are very imaginative or sparked from a film or something going on in the world.

Vogue

while googling grunge fashion the other day I came across an image of a Vogue cover from last year., which showed similar styling to what I wanted. The photographs are by Steven Meisel.

I went to the library to find the images which acompany this shoot however the Vogue Italia's from last year dont seem to be around there was only a few that I could find, which was a little disapointing.

Model

The model I am planning to use i also found through Model Mayhem.
Her names is Kate Smith.

As with the stylist the images in Kate's portfolio are very different to the style I want, however when I contacted her she seemed really interested in working on my shoot.
